So we've had baby since December 28th. I really thought we'd have to start visits this week but I am yet to hear from the case worker. The CPS worker finally called yesterday to let me know the latest, because the case worker has been on leave, and today is her 1st day back.
So they got the birth certificate back; he is named IZAIAH CONNER. Not only is the "z" annoying but the last name Conner! That was the alias they used when Mya was born. They went in pretending to be homeless so they didn't have to leave an address or phone #. They were Christine & Derek Conner. Also, NO dad was listed! Hmmmmm... (I don't think he was there when baby was born)
2012 they are back as we all know but this time using their real names of Christine Scrivner & Dirk Hines and they even left address phone number. So it is beyond me why they gave him the last name of Conner??? Whatever, if we have the chance to adopt him we'll be changing both names! ;)
Oh and the other news, Derek (as I know him, I guess he's Dirk though) has swore up and down that he is dad and he signed the birth certificate. The judge has said if he is claiming to be father and signed the certificate they have no reason to doubt him. They don't to anyone else. But luckily because he claimed to be Mya's father and turned out NOT to be, (thank goodness!!) the D.A. could use that in court to demand a paternity test this time around as well. They couldn't do it while baby was in NICU and so kept putting it off. Dirk had his court (for the charges of child abuse, neglect, and abandonment) rescheduled for Jan 3rd (today). They did that hoping baby would be out soon & they'd have the paternity test results back in time. *His atty doesn't want him to enter his plea (to charges) until they know FOR SURE he is the dad. Well finally the courts said to just have someone go to the NICU from lab & swab baby's cheek for the test. I thought that's what had happened and I expect to hear this week the results.
But I was told that his court will have to be rescheduled again. Paternity wasn't done yet. So I am taking Isaiah to Lab corp on the 10th to have it done. It can take 2-4 weeks from then before we know. She did say though that she was still going to court today and would make sure Judge knows Derek was lying the whole time. Because he is NOT on the birth certificate. (another red mark against them!!) All the little stupid things they do will just go against them, and will make us look better. But either way, this can still be drug out forever.
I will be in court on Jan. 10th, as judge wants to hear from me personally that we are WILLING to work with parents for reunification (them getting baby back). Even though no one (except them) wants that the happen, that is the whole purpose of the foster program is to get kids reunited with birth parents. So yes judge, I am willing to play the game. :) I guess if it comes down to it, sucky and all, we will give baby back if they are clean & hold normal jobs. Hoping that doesn't happen though.
