I got the call this morning that Gentry really would be discharged and that I could go pick her up at 1:30! I was very excited to get her home and for her to finally be out of the NICU. She's been at UMC NICU for 17 days! I didn't get there until about 2pm to pick her up. They were just pulling off the monitors and she was ready for me to dress her. It was also feeding time, so I sat to feed her one last time (in the NICU that is) while the nurse went over the discharge orders and the medication she needs. Her few days on anti-biotics gave her a yeast infection, so she has an oral med & ointment (7 days) for that and then the acid reflux med that she'll be on until further notice. So the nurse made sure I knew how much & when and helped me write down a good routine to keep it all straight! Next up, head for the parking lot. :) The nurse didn't even have me bring in her seat, she said just an outfit. We wheeled her out in her little glass bassinet (until the sidewalk cracks were bouncing the heck out of it, so she left it by the front doors and carried her to my car. Once strapped in, we were off. I stopped at my friend Valerie's to pick up Carlaya & Noah and of course she needed to see & hold her right away. Then another friend showed up to see Valerie and also wanted to see her & visit. We were there almost an hour before I got out. :) She went right to sleep when we got home so I let her sleep an hour past her feeding, so at 6pm I let Carlaya do 1/2 the bottle and Noah do 1/2. They've been thrilled to finally be able to see her and hold her. They were never allowed in the NICU. After dinner, I had Gentry all wrapped up and laid her nicely in her bassinet and minutes later, Jonathan came down holding her. He "claims" he had a bad day at work and needed HER to cheer him up! ;) So far she is absolutely silent and a joy to have. She is on such a routine schedule from her time at UMC that I'm hoping we'll have her 2 am & 5am feedings and that's it. I'll go to bed after the 11pm and I have to be up at 8am anyway, so I think I can do it. I'll survive. I don't do well with little sleep and my body is used to 9 solid hours, so my fingers are crossed that I'll still be a nice person come Friday. LOL Here is a video of some of her 1st pictures at home....... | |||
