Camping at Mt. Charleston

We decided to spend Memorial weekend camping together at Mt. Charleston. You might remember our camping trip from 2 years ago with our good friends the Patricks. We got snowed on!! Not fun. Well, we decided to try again and this time it was much warmer and so much funner.

The 1st night we were alone, because the Patrick's weren't coming up until Saturday morning. It was nice quiet family time, but we were glad to see them the next morning to help keep the kids entertained.

Before they got there, we decided to take the kids on a hike. The Robber's Roost Hike.

This cool cave was at the top of the hike. I stayed back with whinny pants Noah, while Carlaya & her daddy went exploring.
This rock is much steeper than it looks....

By lunch the Patricks arrived, we had hotdogs over the fire and let the kids play all afternoon.

The camphost buzzed by with her little golf cart and offered to give the kids & another fellow camp girl a ride. That was the highlight of the trip for Noah.

Marshmallow roasting that night. :) Carlaya & Jack (6 yrs.) Noah & Lincoln (4 yrs) too much fun! They also have an 18 month old, that sadly- didn't make it any pictures!

Sunday morning, we decided to do some activities with the kids. After lots of hide & seek (which the 4 year olds thought was a blast with the grown ups), Justin decided to draw up some maps & clues to send the kids on a scavenger hunt. Carlaya was so proud to use her kindergarten reading skills to sound out the clues for the other kids!!

From the "leaning tree", to a secret spot in their van,

.....to the campground map,

...to a nearby fence,

Then, finally finding the treasure under the lantern! Can you seek the shock & surprise on Noah's face to find the M & M's?! I guess he didn't really think there would be a real prize at the end. He was thrilled with chocolate- but mad that Jack grabbed it 1st. LOL

Everyone was happy as could be- except whinny pants Noah- gruummPY!

They went back & forth between our tent and theirs playing games.

Carlaya was tickled to death that a lady bug chose HER to roam all over. Up her arms and under, over her shoulder and back down. She just had to have me take a picture!

March of Dimes gave me a few books & THIS camera when I picked up Gentry from the hospital. Since all her pics were on my digital, Carlaya asked if SHE could have the camera as her very own. She loved taking her own pictures all weekend. We took a pic of each other taking our picture! ;)

Justin has his childhood BB gun there to shoot. The kids loved being able to hold it alone and shoot. #1 -there's no kick, #2 -no real danger like an actual gun

Noah shot is so many times and LOVED it!

Megan had never before shot a gun, of ANY kind! So it was super fun to watch her be so serious with this one. :) I love seeing the smirk on Justin's face as he takes her picture!
Thanks for camping with us guys!! We had a blast with you!
