Lil' Miss Smartie Pants

In Kindergarten at Scherkenback Elementary, they have a Sight Word program called Sight Word Soldiers. For each level passed off they recieve a "dog tag" stating the level, then they add it to their chain. They start with the first 25 sight words (or the 25 MOST used words in the English Language) and once they read all of them by sight, they get their 25 dog tag, then 50, then 100, THEN 200. From there it jumps by 200's. So she was bummed to know that there isn't enough time left in the year to learn 200 more words to earn her 400 dog tag. She is ahead of most kids in her class. Only preceeded by a few other super smarties! Mom & Dad were thrilled when she brought home her 200 tag!

Dad, was especially thrilled for Carlaya. He helps her practice, since I am the volunteer at the school that has been testing the kids every week- all year long!
