You might call us crazy, but we decided to drive 1300 miles to Omaha for Turkey Dinner!
My lovely little sister, Jenny is there with her husband and two young boys while he attends pharmacy school. This year it looks like they won't be able to come out for any of the holidays and were feeling quite lonely. PLUS- I've promised for two years that we'd come visit. It took some convincing to get Jonathan on board, but it became a fun family road trip.
We left our foster daughter, Alexandra, with family friends that are foster parents and have twin 5 year olds that Allie just LOVES. She really wanted to stay with them and does not like being in the car for long. (her idea of long is 1 hour) She also gets car sick easily. So when she decided to stay with our friends, we were thrilled for her and US. We would get a much needed family break.

What entertained my kids the whole way? Their new Leapfrog Leapsters! A very early Christmas present that was necessary for this trip. They never complained or really even got tired of driving at all for that matter. I was surprised how well they did. They played with their leapsters so much, they never even watched one full movie, going out or coming home!

We stayed the first night about 2 hours from Denver, Co. This was our morning drive. :) And really, this was the most snow we ever saw. Just a bit of white dust on the sides of the road. Dry weather all the way out and coming home! Lucky us!!
We did have some slight drama in Denver. Which caused a major detour. (2 hours behind schedule) I'd love to tell you that it was Jonathan's fault (cause it was!) but we have kissed & made up! I forgive him for taking that exit! ;)

Such a golden sunset that afternoon! Love it!

Amazingly, it was even more vibrant with the naked eye!
Here is our cute kiddos- happy as could be in the car, even after 8 hours of driving and 5 to go!

Silly girl- with her ugly faces!
Streeeeeetch....
Chillin' with the ipod. Sadly, she wants one of her own now!
