Ok, so you saw in my post on Saturday, how we left camp. COLD, snowing and wet. Well Patricks stayed at our house with us Saturday night and we headed back up together around 8am Sunday morning. It was chilly here in town and it looked like winter up the hill. As we headed up, Jonathan and I just started to laugh. We were headed straight into another storm!
A few miles later, we start hitting the snow! It was hilarious in the most Un-funny way! "Oh geez, what are we thinking!" We knew we had to at least get our stuff- we had left EVERYTHING the night before. I was worried how we might find our tent and all it's belongings......
The ground was all but covered in snow. This pic is one of the barest spots around. And sure enough, our tent was completely collapsed!! (All the poles go the same way, so there isn't a cross at top to hold up the weight of the snow) Luckily once Justin and I scooped off the snow and shook the tarp, we got the tent right back up, and surprisingly nothing was really wet inside!Although the kids were cold, as long as they kept busy they were fine. They kept "hiking" around camp and making up all kinds of make-belive stories in the woods. Shortly after lunch the snow was pretty much melted and gone. So it was easier to stay warm, not being wet.
Noah was pretty bundled up and loved just chillin' by the fire, watching Daddy keep it going. He had pj's under his jeans and 2-3 layers up top. Doesn't he just look cozy!?
While Megan and her kids went to lay down in their tent and get WARM, we busted out some marshmallows and let our kids try roasting for their 1st time. They thought it was so cool to hold a stick in the fire. Carlaya was so patient and would slowly turn her marshmallow. Her very 1st one was golden brown- pretty much perfect! Not bad for a 4 year old! Noah liked eating them more than roasting them. He lacks patients and kept catching them on fire.
