Catching up...

Ok, so my last real post was in October. I hate getting behind, specially this behind. So, I am not going to try to blog every little event since then.  I will just give a quick update:  :)

-Nov. 16th got the call Mya has a brother. (born nov 15th)
We thought the hardest part would be decided whether or not we could/would take him.
Over weekend we decided through much prayer, that we needed to take him.
-Nov. 21st 1st court hearing. Met Christine (mya's birth mom) for the 1st time EVER.  Super awkward but I was nice & introduced myself.  Also met Dirk Hines, super creepy criminal heroin boyfriend who claims he is the father. Thought he was Mya's dad too- Negative.  They were both as uncomfortable as me to meet.  In court, they had a defence atty appointed to them, they faught us getting to foster baby. Wanted an aunt in CA to take baby.  Judge ruled in their favor. (mostly because we let our licence lapse & weren't currently under an active license, but was easy to fix, just took a few weeks)
-Days later, CPS called again to say Aunt said NO to taking baby! :)  Ball in our court again.
-Dec. 4th next court hearing where Christine had to enter her plea for charges of child abuse, neglect & abandonment for baby Izaiah. (named by them)  She had walked out of hosp like with Mya. Only this time showed back up a week later. :(  She enter no contest and trial was set for Dec.21st. Defence atty did not bring up placement of baby and since Aunt fell through, after court CPS told me D.A. gave the go ahead for us to take placment.  :)  Success!  (short lived)
-Dec 12th, On my 3 visit to NICU to see baby, birth parents came in. :(  Not good!  They aren't happy with me in the picture at all and do not want baby with me. Didn't know I had been visiting.  But in the 15 min I did have with baby he stared me right in the eyes & grinned from ear to ear as I talked to him. It was a wonderful 15 min. rudely intereupted by the fear of them catching me here.  I tried to leave but Dirk confronted me saying...."stay the F away, you aren't getting my baby, he's not up for adoptioin, I've tried being nice to you but I'm done!  Don't be "blanking" with my baby, I don't wanna catch you here again, stay away! I'm calling my atty int he morning".....blah blah blah. Thank goodness for adrenaline, cause after I walked away I was shaking.  He is a mean, evil looking man that gives all the nurses there the creeps, they all hate him- even before that incident. He has a violent criminal past in addition to heroin use.
-Dec 18th?  Case worker finally assigned, calls with bad news.  Def atty got word about the run in at the hospital and said we shouldn't be visiting or taking baby until court friday when a judge makes decision.
-Dec 21st her trial.  Can't tell me what happened but that its "settled" hinting that things went in favor of DFS & CPS.   D.A. argued with def atty for over 30 min & apparently it was heated.  parents have no real reason or excuse but that they really really don't want baby with me.  Def atty tried everything but since our license got reactived this week when our background ck & fingerprints finally came back- they had no real reason NOT to place baby with us. There are no relatives & baby is going into foster care 1 way or another, you don't get to pick where!! Duh!!  :)  So judge ruled we get to bring baby home AS FOSTER PLACEMENT and work with parent for reunification.  (although it is very very unlikely they will get him back- they do have  a chance.  They have to work their case plan & accomplish whatever is asked of them) They usually have up to 18 mon to do this.  :(  So it's a long road ahead full of drama.  We'll have to do visitation at child haven twice a  week for one hour.  Not sure how smooth that will go. I am told they left court furious!  :( 

Called hospt hoping baby can be released before Christmas...he is still havingn withdrawls from the heroin, but very minor.  He is on just a tiny dose of morphine to help him off it. Dr. at NICU should be calling this afternoon to discuss it with me.  We are hoping they will send baby home on morphine & we can go reg to ped dr to have his dosage reduced.
