Suddenly I am stopped by a man asking me to be a hair model. A hair model? For what? Well his name is Gary Gerard, had his own booth there, owns a school in CA, and travels the world teaching advanced hair cutting classes. Had a class and wanted to do a long hair cut & a short one. They had found a model earlier in the day for short hair but he said he really wanted me instead. (because my hair is crazy thick, really thick) I know it doesn't look like it though. He asked if he could touch my hair & began running his hands through it. "Yeah, oh yeah, this is gonna be perfect!!", he says. I asked him how he'd cut it....he suggest "savage" pronounced (su- vaaag)? It is an absurd cut! top layers super short up above ears, underneath hair longer. Looks like a wig crazy look or a costume look. NOT for everyday use. At least not for normal everyday moms of 3! LOL When he sensed my resistance he was desperate to get me on board so he said he'd settle for an asymmetrical cut.
1st one that came to my mind? The lady (salon owner) in Edward Sissorhands! Eeek! I did not like that and did not want it! But I knew I could always cut the other side to match it up if I really did hate it. I figured it'd look more modern & be ok. I googled him, realizing he is famous & popular, asked my cosmo friends about him & IF I should do it (got yes's) and I googled asymmetrical cuts...found 1 or 2 that were actually sassy & cute.
So I showed up....nervous as could be!! Here I am for my "before" pic.
During the cut it was actually fun, he was humorous and very educational to his audience. I was up on a stage, all lights & eyes on he & I. I had no clue what it was looking like. No huge chunks were coming off but I knew he'd been cutting for a while I could tell by his techniques that it would look a lil funky. LOL
When he was styling and blowing it out, then I knew it might be funky, but he kept saying how sexy it was....everyone was agreeing with him. So I kinda got excited. I snuck my hand out to feel the back.....yup super short, but sides didn't feel so bad. Afterwards everyone came up to take pictures of the front, sides, back.....so many cameras! LOL Super awkward considering I had no clue what I looked like. Finally one lady turned her camera on her phone & showed me....EEEK! Seriously? I smiled, and she asked, Do you like it? Um, yeah I think? (totally lying!) I looked liek THAT lady from edward sissorhands! It looks like Edward himself cut my hair! Ah, crap! I left & went to the bathroom to see in the mirror. Ugh! Regrets, regrets....!
Walking out of the convention center I felt like everyone was starring at me. I had tons of texts wondering what it was looking like. This is the 1st picture I took - showing my feelings exactly! LOL
Mind you, I sent THIS pic to 3 people and all 3 said, "I like it" "its not so bad" and "aw cute, you can pull it off" What the?!!!! Are you guys blind?! This is mania on my head. Too crazy. Way more crazy looking that you can actually tell in the picture. I got home & Jonathan agreed. A lil' more crazy in person. He wasn't too sure about it all the sudden. LOL Before I laid down for a lil' nap I brushed out the spray & product to see if a flatter look would be any better.......

Don't be deceived by my ridiculous grin...I was feeling crumby that this was the "fix" i had in mind. I look like freakin' Tinkerbell!! :(
So Today, I tried styling down, thinking it might just look like a short a line-ish asymmetrical cut. Both sides are so darn short you can't hardly tell when you still it down. 1 side is just thicker. He took so many chunks out though. It's cut "edgy" or crappy in my words. I bet Carlaya could have cut it better. BLINDFOLDED!! LOL I don't agree with the crazy style that some cosmos consider cutting. I can live with it, but I don't like it one bit! It will be a long time to grow out these layers & chunks.
Side & back view isn't horrible, but I don't love it. I had a cut like this right after we were married & looking back at pictures, Jonathan always said, "don't cut it like that again. That's a total mom cut". Well guess what, this momma looks tacky again! ;)
Here is some pics of what Mr. Gary Gerard does. That top right is what I looked like during the show :( LOL Oh goodness!

Ok, so the honest opinion. The styling the guy did was scary but after you styled it, it looks GREAT. I remember your hair short (back when) and I loved it. You are not tacky (unless you go with that crazy styling). You obviously know how to do hair better than he does!
