Halloween Party
We've had a Halloween party every year for the past 4-5 years. Each time I OVER invite because you never get everyone. In fact, in past years, we're lucky to get close to half. As I always do, I invited about 20 couples and mentioned it to another 2-3 couples. I know we DO NOT have room for 40+ people in my house, but I knew I could count on many to NOT come. I was thrilled to have the 1st 4-5 RSVP's and I figured that'd be all I'd get plus a few that just show up. By the day of the party we'd have over 8 RSVP and then a few called that day to say they'd be there. It started off slow because we had so many late comers. So we pushed all the extra chairs in a circle to play Catch Phrase. Every few minutes the doorbell would ring and we'd have to add chairs to widen the circle. Finally there were just too many people to play a game in a circle.
Our next game was suggested by my friend Brooke. It's called "grocery store". LOL You have a bag filled with food/edible items. 2 teams race to see who can eat the whole bag 1st. Only catch- you can't pick what you eat- choose without looking and you have to eat it completely before your teammate can go. We had some oreos that had been hollowed in the middle and replaced with mustard, a shot glass of vinegar, kool aid packet-plain!, twix candy bar (lucky player), Spicy pringles and a few other misc things. Some good, some bad, some just long to eat. It was fun to watch everyone down their item, but I wish we would have done 1 team at a time, so we could all watch as each person ate their food. Then just timed each team to see the winner. Oh well. ;)
We played reverse charades that was suggest by another friend. It was funny to watch but turned out to be too easy and we should have had them do as many as they could in a minute, rather than 1 at a time. Each time, the one guesser got it right.
Lastly, we played Murder in the dark! LOL It is hilarious to play with adults. It is Brooke's favorite game. We played it with lots of adults at her 30th b-day party last year. 1 murderer, 2 detectives, lots of potential victims. Each person draws a card to see their destiny ;), then the lights go out. Victims hide for fear of having their throat "cut" by the finger of the murderer....LOL Violent, I know. ;)
Anyway, once you die, you lay on the floor and when someone stumbles over your body in the dark- they yell, "Body Body Body!" and the lights come on. Detectives have to try and interview potential witnesses to find out the murderer. If not correct guess, the game continues. We had 22 adults running through my house in the pitch black dark. Screaming, giggling, hiding and murdering! LOL
Needless to say Jonathan and I had a blast despite being crammed in my house like sardines. Better planning next year. ;)
