This summer we decided to get Carlaya in swimming lessons. (In July so this is a little late I realize) Through our ward R.S. presidency they send out Stake "classifieds". A lady in another ward was giving swim lessons at her home. The class was everyday for 2 weeks for 1/2 an hour and then 15 minutes of play time. I was really glad to hear that Carlaya's "last day" of swim lessons would be THE day we left for San Diego. I was so excited to see how well she could swim in just 2 weeks time! She is not afraid of the water, but not very confident. Even with floaties on, she clings to me. So taking she and Noah to the pool by myself is just not do-able. I can't enjoy sitting there with a kid on each hip. And I didn't want to do that in the ocean or hotel pool either. So this worked out great!

It was really great, she had a tiny class of 4 kids, INCLUDING Calaya, so Jaycee (the teacher) could give each kid plenty of attention and help.

By the 3rd day, she was kicking and humming underwater, blowing bubbles. She was already swimming, just by holding onto a kick board.

This is on Day 7-8 and each kid had to jump in on their own, Jaycee would catch them and let them come up for a breath, but then had to swim on their own over to the steps! So fun to watch Carlaya struggle to get there!! :)

This is how she spent her free time everyday. Completely worry free, jumping off rocks into the center of the deep end! (with a float device of course) But she would NEVER have jumped in on her own before this class.
