First Fishing Trip

This weekend I was out of town YET AGAIN (alone) to see Jenny and Andrew bless Baby Benson in St. George while his family was there for a brothers wedding. Of course Benson was so freaking handsome in his little 3 peice suit and it was so fun to see them, if only for an hour.

I stayed Friday night in Hurricane with the kids and on Saturday evening David (Jonathan's dad) and GG Pa (great Grandpa Grow) took the kids fishing. Jonathan got new fishing gear for Christmas and has wanted to go ever since, we've just never planned it, but after camping, Carlaya has been asking to go fishing. So of course her daddy had to get her, her own Disney Princess fishing pole. Then Jonathan got sucked into working overtime this weekend, so we wasn't able to even be there for the 1st TIME!

Here- Carlaya and her grandpa have just got her pole baited with a "disgusting worm" (according to Carlaya) he he he and she is now ready to Fish! Or get bored doing it!

Grandpa was so nice to let Noah use his pole (although a little big) until Noah gets one of his own. (he is not near as interested in fishing yet- he lasted only about 5 minutes) But we'll get him one soon.
After only about 5-10 minutes Carlaya started complaining and wanting to do "SOMETHING, like fishing...." She didn't quite get it, that this is fishing- SITTING! She griped and moaned and she IS NOT a morning person so we were fishing at night, which meant our chances of getting a fish were much less.... but within minutes the spoiled little brat got the first bite!!
This is her reeling it in, with all her strength. Grandpa made/let her do it all on her own, we were all pretty excited to see what would come out........

NASTY!! A gross cat-fish latched on and EATING her baby bass!! LOL
Once we pulled the cat-fish off, her baby fish was hooked and although she was grossed out and a little scared, she held up the string to show it off!!

It was so tiny we did let it go, but it was so cool that she was able to catch a fish on her first time.
GG Pa caught two nasty cat-fish as well and put them back. He also caught one other little tiny fish. So in the end we had fun, but didn't have any fish to show for it. Daddy sure missed out!

Wow, I have never seen a catfish grab onto a hooked fish- weird! What a cool story though for Carlaya and Noah's first fishing trip!!!!!
