So we've been planning a fun weekend get-away to Mt. Charleston for Memorial Weekend. We live in Las Vegas, so it should be decently warm.......right?! We knew with this weeks storm that blew in that we may get rained on. But shortly after arriving it started to flurry. The sun was out so we didn't worry too much and got the tent, food tent and canopy set up. Then we unpacked the whole truck. Meanwhile, it is snowing harder and HARDER. Just dumping snow. It was a real live blizzard I swear. Keep in mind the ground was BROWN when we arrived and very WHITE within one hour. LOL THe kids had a fit, were freezing, hungry and for some reason the snow landing on the tent was scaring the death out of Noah.
It got so bad you could hardly do anything because the wind with the snow made it so cold. There is no way we could have started a fire with wet wood and then who wants to sit there in the blizzard and watch dinner!
So this is us walking away from our fully set up camp to drive home (15-20 minutes away) to cook our tin-foil dinners in the OVEN! :) And because of the way our tent sets up with all the poles going the same way, it is hard to keep the snow off of it and a tarp didn't help. We may not go back up until morning. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the tents don't cave and soak our stuff!

Us driving through a snow cloud 1/2 way home and you'd never know it from our front yard. The sun was shinning and it was 65 degrees. It's crazy what an elevation change can mean for weather!

OH MY GOSH!!!! I can't believe that! goodo to see that Jonathan is still smiling. I don't think that Preston would be. how did it all turn out? It was freezing yesterday and today it's georgous! It's so wierd!
You just left everything up there? And you where bagging on us for bad weather. It in the 90's here with 100% humidity I swear! It is so blasted hot and with my big ol' belly it makes me hotter.

What, snow in late May in Vegas?? I mean I know you were up in the mountains, but still you don't expect that! That is some crazy weather for ya.
i couldn't have hacked that. heard you guys had fun. plan to go againg when it's warmer and were in like flin. we went to panguitch heard about uncle earl when can he go home?
